PORT ROYAL, Pa. — High Limit Racing traveled cross-country this past week to make it to Port Royal Speedway for the Tuscarora 50 weekend after hanging out on the west coast with their last race in Washington. Now back on the East Coast, the High Limit regulars had to deal with the PA Posse.

Night one kicked off with one driver from the east coast, Anthony Macri, and one driver from the west coast, Rico Abreu, on the front row to kick off the 25-lap feature. As they headed down the frontstretch, Abreu and Macri were side-by-side until they hit Turn 2 where Abreu went down low and was able to put his nose out in front of Macri to be able to slide job him going into Turn 3.

With Brian Brown creeping up behind them both, Macri knew that he could not just wait until to see what would happen, so he returned the favor to Abreu as they went into Turns 1 and 2. But a crossover by the west coast native earned his rights to the lead back.

But Macri was just not having it on Thursday night and got Abreu back in Turns 1 and 2 once again. But as he came off the corner he drifted up too high and banged the wall, resulting in Abreu being able to slip right on by.

With 16 laps left to go, Brad Sweet had worked his way up and made moves on Macri. As they flew into Turns 1 and 2, Sweet went low and was able to get in front of Macri for second. He now had his sights set on Abreu who was in the thick of lap traffic.

On Lap 15, the battle for fourth was getting heated between Justin Peck and Tyler Courtney. Peck got passed by Courtney for fourth as they came down the front straight and headed into Turn 1. Courtney went down low and came up high, pulling off a successful slidejob.

Peck, running in fifth, dealt with Posse member Logan Wagner, who was charging up fast. As Peck was trying to figure out a plan to get by Courtney, Wagner surged up to the inside of Peck and held himself there, forcing Peck to go really high and ride the rail.

With eight laps to go, Sweet pulled the winning slider on Abreu. As they raced down the back chute and into Turn 3, Sweet kept to the bottom allowing himself to hit the corner first. With his wheels turned before Abreu’s he was able to shoot himself in front of him to steal the lead away.

Sweet was able to hold off Abreu with the help of lap car Chris Windom to win for the first time in 112 days. Along with breaking the drought, Sweet went home with an extra $2,500 due to winning from the fifth spot because a fan who got to participate in the Durst dice roll rolled a five. The lucky fan also got to go home with an extra $2,500. This win also put the west coast at one and the Posse at zero.

High Limit Racing stays in PA on Friday night at Port Royal Speedway in Port Royal, PA, for more Tuscarora 50 action.
