SARVER, Pa. — Looking to keep their score up against the PA Posse, the High Limit Racing sprint cars headed to Lernerville Speedway for the Commonwealth Clash.

The 30-lap preliminary race kicked off with Sye Lynch and Anthony Macri on the front row. In the first two laps, Lynch flew away from the rest of the field with Macri in hot pursuit. Macri soon began to feel the pressure from Tyler Courtney in third. Courtney had just passed Corey Day, who was looking to sneak past him on the bottom.

Two laps later, Macri and Courtney repeatedly swapped lanes with each other until Courtney finally ended up on the bottom. Using the lane to his advantage, Courtney was able to slide up in front of Macri to claim second from the Pennsylvania native.

The No. 2 seemed to be lucky on Friday night because two laps after Macri settled in third, he was thrown back to fourth by Day. Unlike Courtney, Day shot to the top side and sailed past the Posse member, cracking the top three and looking for a win after his terrible luck over the past few races.

With 19 laps remaining, the race for the lead got heated. Day and Courtney were side-by-side as they raced down the backstretch. As they came up on Lynch’s rear-end, the two of them split up and took to the top and bottom lanes of the track. Lynch suffered a problem going into Turn 4, allowing “Sunshine” and Macri to put him down two positions. However, just because they were now 1-2 on the board did not mean that they were done; far from it in fact. Day and Courtney were just getting started.

As they stayed glued to each other’s sides down the front chute, Day took the high side and was able to get past Courtney to snag the lead, putting a lapped car between them. More cars were up ahead, and Day had to quickly figure out how to get around them.

At the end of Lap 16, in a battle with Day for the lead, Courtney nearly spun out and made contact with Cody Bova, losing some serious ground and practically handing the win to Day. “Sunshine” kept it under control though and kept right on going.

This was just what Lynch, back in third, needed if he were to move up a spot. As the laps ticked away, Lynch crept closer and closer to Courtney, looking for a way past him. As they came off of Turn 4 with eight laps to go, Lynch went to the bottom and got a massive run on Courtney, slipping into second as they came out of Turn 2.

Although Lynch could not find the momentum and speed needed to find his way up to Day, he managed to hold off Courtney for the duration of the race to come home in second. Day claimed his seventh win and another point for team High Limit.

High Limit Racing stays in Pennsylvania on Saturday night for the Commonwealth Clash at Lernerville Speedway in Sarver, Pennsylvania.
