ELMA, Wash. — After sleeping Monday night, High Limit Racing packed up and got ready to continue on up the coast to Grays Harbor Raceway in the furthermost state on the western side of the U.S.

Another installment of the “Mid-Week Money Series” took place with a 30-lap main event.

Local hometown favorite, Trey Starks, and Cole Macedo led the 25-car field to the starting zone in Turn 4. Starks jumped out ahead of everyone as they exited the first corner, but Macedo was feeling the pressure from both Spencer Bayston and Tyler Courtney who were right behind him and vigorously battling for third.

Bayston got by Courtney going into Turn 3 for the final pole position, leaving “Sunshine” in fourth. Justin Sanders, a west coast man who has been making himself known with the high-rolling sprint car stars, began his pursuit of Courtney coming down the frontstretch.

Lap 9 saw Starks slip up coming off of the fourth turn. As he drifted up the track, Macedo was right there to swoop in in an attempt to steal away the lead. Starks recovered and got side-by-side with Macedo as they raced towards Turn 1. Starks was able to hold on.

With 14 laps to go, Courtney had finally caught back up with Bayston and was eager to get another podium finish. As they headed into Turn 4, Courtney went low and slidejobbed Bayston upon exiting the corner, claiming third at the line.

With his sights set on Macedo, Courtney was making some serious progress with catching up to him. But Bayston back in fourth was far from giving up and was still giving Courtney hell. Just as Courtney was going to make a pass on Macedo for second, Bayston came up out of no-where and was on his outside, challenging him yet again for the coveted third place. To block him, Courtney switched lanes and went up to the top, losing some ground with Macedo.

At the end of Lap 27, Courtney found the momentum he was looking for and finally got around Macedo for second, right at the line. Kicking off Lap 28, Courtney had to immediately navigate through lap traffic, while keeping his sights honed in on leader Starks who had led all 28 laps thus far.

With one lap remaining, Tyler Thompson’s right rear blew right in front of Starks as he came down the front straight, resulting in a yellow being thrown. This was exactly what Courtney needed and he was ready for the challenge.

But so was Starks, and in a last lap dash Starks proved that he had what it took to hold off the veteran. In the final turns of the race, Starks went high and Courtney went low and were right next to each other in the corner. As they came out of it, they drag raced to the finish line, but Starks was ahead of Courtney just enough to win and make his home state proud with his first ever High Limit Racing victory.

Next up, High Limit Racing continues their streak on the west coast, and in Washington, by going to Skagit Speedway in Burlington for a three-day showdown.
