SARVER, Pa. — It was not looking too good for the PA Posse with earning zero points against the High Limit Racing drivers in their home state, but they had one more chance on Saturday night to put their name on the map. The Commonwealth Clash at Lernerville Speedway was the place and race to do it.

The 40-lap main event started off with Logan Wagner and Friday night’s winner, Corey Day, on the front row. Wagner took the initial lead but Day ripped the high side and sailed by him as they raced down the backstretch.

Lap 3 saw two Posse members go at it for second. Brent Marks went to the inside of Wagner and hugged the bottom of the racetrack to propel by him heading into Turn 3 to pull a successful slide job and claim the runner-up spot.

With 24 laps remaining, Day was still ripping the top. But as he headed into the second turn, Day’s right rear tire came flying off, sending him over the berm and barrel-rolling down the hill, ending his leading streak. Although the wreck was bad, Day made it out of the car uninjured.

“Yeah, I’m fine,” said Day immediately after the accident. “Definitely unfortunate and not sure what happened [because] it showed no signs of breaking before it did. [This] sucks.”

Now with Day out of the picture, Marks automatically got the lead on the restart. Sye Lynch was coming up fast though, and so was Tyler Courtney who was giving Lynch a run for his money down the chutes. Finally, on Lap 19, Courtney got by Lynch by running the high side, slipping into second with his sights set on Marks.

But Courtney would not have to try very hard to get by the PA native, because his right rear betrayed him as well by going flat. Now in the lead, Courtney had clean air in front of him.

With 15 laps to go, Lynch had inched his way to the inside of Courtney and was just looking to get by him for the lead. He had to try to get at least one point for the Posse. So, he went down low and edged forward, getting half of his front end out ahead of Courtney, but just could not keep the momentum up to get by him.

Lynch and Courtney battled it out heavily for the remainder of the race, but Courtney was able to take home the win and $50,000. He also added another tally mark to team High Limit, making a total of four for the high rollers.

High Limit Racing heads to Eldora Speedway in Rossburg, Ohio, on September 20-21 for the 4-Crown Nationals.
