KANSAS CITY, Kan. — Corey Heim returned to Victory Lane at Kansas Speedway Friday night, winning the Kubota Tractor 200 for his sixth win of the 2024 season. It was not without a flair of excitement as Heim took the lead on the final lap to win the race.

Coming to the white flag, Ty Majeski ran out of fuel, handing the lead over to Heim, who was able to hold on and claim the win.

“We were the best truck all night. It’s my favorite track, I love coming here,” said Heim. “I look forward to this. I had a smile on my face all week coming to this place.”

Heim led a race-high 64 laps and won Stage 2, completing the season sweep at Kansas.

“I just thought we could sweep the year here,” Heim said. “I certainly thought we had it lost there to the (No.) 98 (Majeski), almost making it on fuel, but it just shows my team made the right call.”

On the flip side of that fuel strategy was Majeski, who wound up finishing in 15th place after leading 51 laps and winning Stage 1. The gamble was not detrimental to Majeski, however, because he and the No. 98 team were already locked into the Round of 8.

“I think it was worth the gamble. I like the call,” Majeski told Frontstretch.com following the race. “We weren’t going to win the race and at the end of the day, that’s all that mattered to us.”

After Majeski ran out of fuel, Layne Riggs finished second, coming up one spot short of winning his third consecutive race to start the playoffs. Riggs has now finished in the top five in five consecutive races, dating back to Indianapolis Raceway Park in July.

Kayden Honeycutt finished in fourth place, matching his finish from the spring race. Dawson Sutton also scored a top five, finishing fifth in just his third career Craftsman Truck Series start.

This race was also the cutoff race to see who would advance from the Round of 10 to the Round of 8, eliminating two drivers. Those two drivers were Daniel Dye and the defending champion, Ben Rhodes.

Rhodes finished in 22nd after starting in the fourth position. He ran out of fuel at the end of the race, sealing his fate after a tough battle with Grant Enfinger for the final transfer spot.

“We qualified fourth, and at the start of the race, massive changes with the truck,” said Rhodes. “We could not get it tightened up. Still kind of unacceptable. If we’d have gotten our stage points, it would have taken care of itself.”

Dye had a tough race also, running outside the top 30 throughout the race before finishing in 27th place.
