Julia Landauer’s Xfinity Debut in Loudon

Julia Landauer’s first start in the NASCAR Xfinity Series came last weekend at New Hampshire Motor Speedway in the Crayon 200. She has been racing go-karts since she was 10 years old, and at just 14, Landauer became the first woman to win a Skip Barber Racing Series Championship.

But the accomplishments don’t just end at the race track. Outside of the race car, Landauer is a Stanford Alumni, having graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Science, Technology and Society. She is a member of the 2017 Forbes 30 under 30 list and she gives live keynotes. On top of her public speaking presentations, she has given two TedTalks, I’m a Racecar Driver. Yes I get Scared and Can Nice Girls Win (Races)?

On Saturday, Landauer was driving the No. 45 Boss Beauties NFT/Garage XYZ Camaro for Alpha Prime Racing. Prior to the start of the race, Landauer said one of her biggest goals was to learn as much as she could during the course of the race.

After much hard work from both the driver and team, the No. 45 was set to start the race in 32nd. Landauer posted on Instagram the day before the race saying it had been over a year and a half since her last stock car race and almost three years since her last race on an oval track.

During the first stage of the race, Landauer was facing getting lapped by Justin Allgaier. She moved up to the top-line with numerous other drivers to move out of the way, but the No. 7 car got into the No. 45. This sent Landauer around.

Allgaier would later give an apology to Landauer in Victory Lane.

At the end of the first stage, the No. 45 met the minimum speed requirements post wreck and was able to continue in the race. Landauer spent stage two learning as much as she could and finished in 38th. On the restart for the final stage, Landauer and Matt Mills in the No. 78 made contact, ending Landauer’s day. Landauer was marked as finishing the race in 36th.

Despite a challenging race, Landauer never gave up. Even after getting wrecked by the leader in stage one, Landauer set back to work and learned what she could. After the race, Landauer tweeted about what this race meant to her and why doing as well as she could in this race was so crucial for her and the team. She hopes to be back in a race car soon and to continue to live out her dream as a race car driver.
