KANSAS CITY, Kan. — After claiming his 37th career NASCAR Cup Series victory last Sunday at the Texas Motor Speedway, the three-time and reigning Cup Series champion Joey Logano looks to strike thunder for Sunday’s Advent Health 400 at Kansas Speedway.

Logano aims to enhance his impressive record at the 1.5-mile oval as he seeks to tie Denny Hamlin’s record of four wins at Kansas Speedway, the most in track history.

The native of Middleton, Connecticut, showed significant improvement in speed during Saturday’s practice and qualification session. He moved from 28th place in the 25-minute practice session as he later went on to secure the fifth starting spot after a hot lap during qualifying with his No. 22 Pennzoil Ford Mustang Dark Horse. He will start the 400-mile event on the inside of Ty Gibbs.

“Yeah, Kansas has become one of the most important races,” Logano said regarding his perspective on Kansas Speedway’s spot on the Cup Series schedule.

“Either way, you just wanna make sure you learn a lot this weekend. So you can make better decisions when we come back. We do that at every track. Some things will still be quite relevant so we can apply what we learned here.”

Despite Logano’s victory at Texas Motor Speedway, the defending Cup Series champion has struggled to achieve consistent finishes in the races. So far in the first 11 races of 2025, he has only recorded one top-five finish and two top-ten finishes. However, Logano has placed a strong emphasis on accumulating stage points, managing to score 81 stage points throughout the season. Additionally, he has led the fourth most laps in the Cup Series, with a total of 291 laps led, allowing him to remain ninth in the points standings entering the weekend.

Logano was asked about the conditions at Kansas Speedway and how these characteristics might relate to the upcoming Coca-Cola 600 at Charlotte Motor Speedway during Memorial Day weekend and how Sunday’s race can help propel not just Logano, but the entire Team Penske organization.

It’s a mile-and-a-half, but it’s really bumpy, and the load is similar, but how you get to the max load is quite a bit different.” Said Logano. “Some similarities, but some things are quite different.”

The Cup Series veteran has a long road ahead as he seeks his 38th NASCAR Cup Series victory, along with tying the track record for the most victories at the Cup Series level at the Kansas Speedway property on Sunday.
