NEWTON, Iowa — Sam Mayer won the Hy-Vee Perks 250 at Iowa Speedway for his first victory of the 2025 NASCAR Xfinity Series season and the first win for the rebranded Haas Factory Team.
Mayer was in contention for the majority of the race but was able to take the lead away from Jesse Love on the final restart and extend his lead as the laps wound down to repeat at Iowa Speedway.
“I can’t believe it,” said Mayer. “This is one of the most special wins I have. This one’s everything right here (his No. 41 team). First win for Haas Factory Team, that’s awesome.”

At the end of Stage 1, Mayer overshot his pit stall, barely bumping into the front tire carrier and sliding through the box. Even after the mishap, he was still able to drive through the field to finish fourth in the second stage, putting himself in a position to earn a victory.
“I tried to botch it on pit road, but we didn’t,” Mayer said. “I missed my pit box, but the car was so good it didn’t even matter. We ran up through there, no problem. It was great.”
For Mayer, it was his eighth career victory in the NASCAR Xfinity Series and his first since winning at the Charlotte Roval last October. It was also his first win since joining Haas Factory Team for the 2025 season, which coincidentally marked the team’s first victory since their offseason selloff/rebrand.

Love rebounded for a second-place finish after losing multiple positions on the final restart. Ross Chastain finished third, Connor Zilisch came home in fourth place and Harrison Burton rounded out the top five. Finishing inside the top 10 were Carson Hocevar, Sheldon Creed, Ryan Sieg, Carson Kvpail and Christian Eckes.
Reigning NASCAR Xfinity Series Champion, Justin Allgaier, finished in 16th place and is now tied with JR Motorsports teammate Zilisch for the regular season title with just four races remaining. The provisional cutline also saw a shift, as Burton now holds a 17-point lead over Sieg and a 19-point lead over Jeb Burton for the final playoff spot.
The NASCAR Xfinity Series is back in action next Saturday, August 9, at 3:00 p.m. EST for the Mission 200 at The Glen on The CW, MRN Radio and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio.
