SONOMA, Calif. — Shane van Gisbergen put on another show-stopping victory in dominating fashion in Sunday’s NASCAR Cup Series Toyota/ Save Mart 350 at Sonoma Raceway, leading 97 of the 110 scheduled laps to pick up his third win in the 2025 campaign.
Shane van Gisbergen secured his third victory in five races and his second consecutive win on Sunday, dominating the event in “Wine Country.” With this victory, he earned six additional playoff points, placing him third in the playoff standings.
He celebrated with a traditional burnout, and then his Trackhouse crew changed the tires on the No. 88 Red Bull Chevrolet Camaro so he could perform a second smoke-inducing spin on his way to victory lane. He also honored his tradition by kicking a rugby ball into the grandstands.

“We had an amazing car,” van Gisbergen said after the victory. “I’ve enjoyed my time in NASCAR. Thanks, everyone, for making me feel so welcome. I hope I’m here for a long time to come.”
Shane van Gisbergen praised his fellow competitor Chase Briscoe, who had just won at Pocono Raceway. Briscoe managed to keep van Gisbergen in check during the final four laps following the sixth caution of the race. Van Gisbergen had been leading just before the restart, leading to an intense battle between the two for the victory. Ultimately, van Gisbergen pulled ahead, finishing with a gap of 1.128 seconds to secure the win.
“Chase Briscoe, what a great racer, and he gave me respect. Jumped the last one a little bit, and it was pretty tense, but amazing. I believe we had an enjoyable weekend here, some great races, and I hope everyone enjoyed that.”
All three of van Gisbergen’s wins this season have been achieved from pole position on road courses, tying him with 2019 NASCAR Hall of Fame inductee Jeff Gordon, who accomplished the same feat during the 1998 to 1999 seasons.

Briscoe qualified second in the race and finished second, leading two laps as well as collecting valuable stage points to go along with a 44-point day for the Mitchell, Indiana native.
“The only opportunity I had was on the restarts,” Briscoe said. “I never played basketball against Michael Jordan in his prime, but I feel like that’s probably what it was like. That guy is unbelievable on road courses. He’s just so good. He’s raised the bar on this entire series. We were a second-place car all day and ended up second with it.”
Chase Elliott, Michael McDowell, and Christopher Bell were the top 5 finishers.
The remaining top ten drivers included Tyler Reddick, Ty Gibbs, William Byron, Joey Logano, and Kyle Busch.
The underdog story for 32nd seed Ty Dillon in the In-Season Challenge continues as he moved past Alex Bowman in the final corner of the last lap, advancing to the semi-final round. Dillon will face John Hunter Nemechek when the series returns to Dover Motor Speedway next Sunday. Meanwhile, the other side of the bracket will showcase a Toyota showdown between the 23rd seed Reddick and the 6th seed Gibbs.
Van Gisbergen now jumps up to third in the NASCAR Cup Series playoff picture as the tour takes over “The Monster Mile” at Dover Motor Speedway for the Autotrader Echopark Automotive 400 on Sunday, July 20.
Coverage of the event will be broadcast live on TNT at 2:00 p.m. ET, with radio coverage available on the Performance Racing Network and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio, channel 90.
