KANSAS CITY, Kan. — Ty Majeski hasn’t always had many opportunities behind the wheel in NASCAR. But, driving full-time for the first time in his career, Majeski continues to impress for ThorSport Racing in the Camping World Truck Series.

In Saturday’s Heart of America 200 at Kansas Speedway, Majeski recorded a career-best second-place finish. It’s his second consecutive top five after finishing fourth last weekend at Darlington Raceway.

“Really good truck. Hats off to Joe Shear Jr., my crew chief,” Majeski said. “Just a huge relief to run good consistently. I had a really fast American Racing Toyota Tundra TRD Pro.”

Majeski qualified in third and kept his truck in the top five nearly all night. He finished second in Stage 1 and fourth in Stage 2.

With 12 laps to go, Majeski ran third when a caution came out for a Dean Thompson spin. On the restart, John Hunter Nemechek, who ran second, spun his tires and the field stacked up behind him. Majeski took over second but had nothing for race winner Zane Smith, who led 108 of 134 laps.

“We kept easing on the balance all night,” Majeski said. “I was a little bit free. We kept making good adjustments, just didn’t make a big enough swing on that last run. The sun went down and I think it freed up a little bit. Just a little bit too free to be able to attack the way I needed to to get by the 38.”

Through eight races, Majeski sits fifth in points with five top-10 finishes. He and Grant Enfinger are the only two drivers to finish top-five in each of the last two races, which begins a stretch of eight races in eight weeks for the series.

“Last year, I took a step back to hopefully take a step forward in the future,” Majeski said. “I was hoping a full-time opportunity was going to come, wasn’t sure if it was going to be this year or sometime down the road. But, I see what ThorSport is doing and what they’re all about.

“Duke and Rhonda [Thorson] are great people. They’ve provided me this opportunity, and I’m just trying to make the most of it.”

The Truck Series returns Friday, May 20 at Texas Motor Speedway for the SpeedyCash.com 220.
