PORT ROYAL, Pa. — From March to October, the 0.5-mile Port Royal Speedway is a haven of speed and thrills, dirt track style. From sprint cars to dirt late models, this historical venue, opened in 1938, has ushered in some of the greatest racers in the dirt track scene.

Names like Larry “Smokey” Snellbaker, Keith Kauffman, Lance Dewease, Todd Shaffer, Logan Wagner, Mitch Smith, Dave Blaney and Donny Schatz have emerged victorious at this venerable facility. On Sunday, June 2, a plethora of action unfolded with 305 and 410 sprint cars along with dirt late model car drivers slugging it out on for late spring night racing.

Jennie Mae Lingle, Staff Photographer, was there to capture the action for The Podium Finish. Now, get a piece of the action through her lenses that told the story of Sunday night’s action from this 86-year-old motorsports haven.
