DUNDEE, N.Y. The High Limit Racing sprint cars traveled to Outlaw Speedway to kick off their New York State swing.

Zeb Wise and James McFadden led the field to the starting line in Turn 4 to kick off the 28-lap A-Main. Although Wise jumped out ahead of McFadden to take the lead, McFadden was right on his heels and stayed there throughout all of the turns, and down all the straightaways, for the first couple laps, until Wise put some space between himself and McFadden.

Wise felt the pressure from McFadden on Lap 5 though, as McFadden took the bottom and tried to edge upwards on Wise to take over the lead. This didn’t work in McFadden’s favor and he didn’t get first, but instead got himself into a battle with Brad Sweet who was coming up fast.

The two went head-to-head for a solid three laps, running side-by-side with each other throughout the turns. Even though McFadden had the advantage down the straightaways, Sweet was closing the gap on the corners due to running the high line. This worked out for Sweet as he took McFadden for second coming off of Turn 4 on Lap 8.

With 17 laps to go, Wise felt the heat from Sweet. Sweet caught up to the leader and was looking for a way around the leader, especially since lap traffic was a big factor. Both Wise and Sweet were looking for ways to get around the lap traffic cars as Tyler Courtney was coming up fast after getting into the third spot a half-track beforehand.

Sweet took the lead away from Wise by going low into Turn 1. As they raced side-by-side through Turns 1 and 2, Sweet shot out of the corner ahead of Wise. Sweet went back to the high side and ran that throughout the next set of turns and Wise tried to get by him by pulling a slide job on Sweet, but just couldn’t get enough power to overtake him.

Wise’s momentum started to deplete as Courtney closed the gap between them insanely quick and even passed him for a second or two through the turns. Down the chutes though, Wise pulled away from Courtney and retained his position.

It didn’t last too long though as Courtney ran the bottom going into Turns 1 and 2 and got by Wise. Courtney slid in front of Wise and put some more space between him and Wise throughout the next set of turns. Courtney now had his eyes set on Sweet in first with ten laps to go.

On Lap 26, Courtney finally got by the lap car #28 of Jordan Poirier to continue his pursuit of leader Sweet. Sweet, also trying to get by lap traffic, had no cars between him and Courtney.  However, Courtney just could not find enough momentum and speed to get up next to Sweet to challenge him for the lead. Sweet went on to win the race with Courtney in second and Wise in third.

This win marked Sweet’s first in the state of New York.  Sweet has the opportunity to do it again on Friday when High Limit Racing travels to Utica-Rome Speedway in Vernon, NY.
