MONTEREY, Calif. – WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca was chosen to host Rennsport Reunion 7 this year, with over 90,000 Porsche fans in attendance to help celebrate 75 years of Porsche and the 60th anniversary of the 911.
Rennsport Reunion has occurred every three to four years since its conception in 2001 at different venues but was delayed due to the global pandemic.

Many icons of Porsche’s illustrious 75 years of motorsport were present at this year’s Rennsport Reunion, including a nearly endless list of past and present Porsche drivers and over 300 historic Porsche cars (and tractors). From the first “No. 1” 356 Roadster to the world premiere of the track-only 911 GT3 R Rennsport, there were cars from every era present, even the new Cayman GT4 e-Performance. The 911 GT3 R Rennsport was over four seconds quicker around Laguna Seca than the current GT3 R.

Most notably, they showcased current IMSA teams, including the JDC Miller 963, AO Racing’s 911 GT3 R “Rexy,” and Wright Motorsports No. 16 1st Phorm 911 GT3 R. Fortunately, Porsche also ran Le Mans legends, such as the three-time Le Mans-winning Porsche 919 Hybrid, as well as prior Le Mans-winning 911 RSRs. Seeing as the 919 Hybrid only raced stateside a handful of times, it was a treat to see it in its final iteration, as it raced in the 2017 6 Hours of Bahrain, placing second and third.

It was heartwarming to see many great historic Porsche cars being raced around Laguna Seca by Porsche owners and legends alike and to see them mingling in the paddock. 75 years of Porsche history was in full swing for Rennsport Reunion VII, so be sure to look out for the next Reunion in a city near you in the coming years.
